Smart goal setting    We all have things that we want to change and goals that we are working towards: lose 15 pounds, drink more   water ,   exercise   more often…But how do we turn those dreams into reality? In this post we review SMART goals and explain why they help us achieve success and turn those dreams and goals into reality! So what is a SMART goal? A SMART goal is a way to make progress towards our goals. It is a way to break a vision into smaller, actionable steps that can be taken each week. An example of this would be to take a 3 month goal, such as “I would like to be going to the gym for 1 hour three times per week” and turning it into a SMART goal of “I will go the the store on Wednesday at 10am to buy a pair of sneakers this week.” You feel energized and encouraged when you achieve that goal, and are ready to set a new goal for the next week! Each week with small “wins” leads to confidence and takes you one step closer to your 3 month goal. However, these goals have ce

The secret to stay motivated

Have you been searching for inspiration, trying to find the motivation to start something? To make a dent in that project, to exercise, to eat healthy, to do that one thing you’ve dreamed about for a while? I think we’re used to ‘searching’ for motivation. Pinterest, blog posts, videos, speeches, books – we use these resources to ‘find’ inspiration, but are we really just creating a distraction for ourselves?  Sure, you can be inspired by someone. I want to be more in tune with myself, be more efficient, and be less concerned with what people think of me.    If you’ve been feeling stuck or like you’re not where you want to be in life, maybe it’s time for certain behaviors, habits, or mindsets to shift. In this post, I’m sharing 7 ways you can be more intentional this year to uplevel your lifestyle. What Does Uplevel Your Life Mean? To uplevel your life means: Being better than you were in the past Letting go of the things that tend to hold you back Letting go of self-sabotaging behavior Not living on autopilot Making choices and decisions that align with the  bigger vision  you have for your life.  I’m sure you have that voice in your head that tells you that you could be doing something mor

8 ways to deal with negativity

Image
It seems like we are surrounded by negativity  With overwhelming access to information and a constant bombardment of details surrounding the most of us up to the minute of tragedy the likes of suicide. It is easy to get stuck in a negative space.  This is not a healthy or helpful place to live. This is not about acting from a place of denial, It is about learning how to deal with hard things from a healthier perspective, one that is based on facts and wisdom, not on confusion and fear. I know from my own experience of suicide losses I’ve had. So, let’s look at techniques as strategies. Techniques and Strategies For Freedom and Empowerment I’ve built these strategies, these techniques and these tools that still allow me to function effectively in the world, they allow me to be a realist, they allow me to be in touch and in connection with what is going on. But these tools and strategies that I'm going to share with you in this blog also allow me to be free. They allow me to think
