HOW TO HAVE SELF-DISCIPLINE WHEN YOU’RE FEELING LAZY

Everyone thinks motivation is the key to getting things done. I’m sure you’ve searched the phrase,   ‘How do I motivate myself?’   once or twice when you’re lacking the willpower to get anything done. Without motivation, it’s hard to get started on anything. But when you can’t rely on motivation,  you need to turn to self-discipline . Self-discipline and consistency are so important, yet they’re so difficult to achieve. Perhaps it’s because we associate them with deprivation, mundanity, and absolutely zero fun. When I do any cleaning or vacuuming I put music on something that makes me want to dance.  If you let distractions control your day and you only make decisions based on how you feel (aka unmotivated), you might never get where you want to be.  It may be more fun to watch Netflix or neon or even Apple TV but you need self-discipline to help you get through those moments when you lack motivation. In this post, I’m sharing some mindset shifts to help ...

How to handle the tough experiences

Image
Over the past couple of months, I’ve created a video about staying positive while handling anxiety and fear during this pandemic. Today I want to focus on another feeling the whole world is experiencing right now: Sadness. Sadness for the loss of lives due to Covid-19 or a death of a loved one. In general sadness for the horribly unnecessary and violent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and the countless names that came before theirs. And the racist crap against black people is not okay. Sadness and outrage for the racial injustice still flourishing in 2022.  Sadness is a tough emotion to be present with. Finding openness

Image
Finding openness  Choosing to be open is like opening our minds eye to that we can see answers that have been there all along but hidden because we are so blind. Our brains are hardwired for survival, we aren't naturally open minded when it comes to new things or ideas. Our brains notices that what we are doing right now is working well enough, so we avoid change all together. We're not in any grave danger, so we just maintain the status quo. Basically, our brain's baseline is "if it ain't broken, don't bother fixing it."  But we are not talking about escaping an immediate danger; instead we're talking about upgrading our operating system to go from surviving to thriving. So, lets put it all out there on the table and work together to discover where small changes can have a huge effect on your life in a positive way.  The more open to new concepts the more likely of success. Being open essentially means being more teachable. Remember that Greek philos...
