Navigating through challenging times

When it feels life coming at you,  and it’s one after the other. We can get stuck in survival mode. Adopting simple tools helps us to get through these negative moments in our lives. Finding calmness in these moments in our life.

Finding calmness

Fight or flight mode is your brain’s way of finding automatic survival response to danger. It releases the stress hormone cortisol but longer period of time it can interfere with your wellbeing.

The good news is there are several ways you can improve on this.

  • Breathe

  • Acknowledge your feelings

  • Remind yourself of things that are certain

  • Find moments of the here and now

Make calmness a habit.

Build an action plan to overcome it.

Stay connected with others

Stay connected to people it releases oxytocin which has been linked with better physical health.

Change your perspective
How we perceive our thoughts and situations with a positive mindset towards it. I know it is not easy at all, I’ve had that battle myself so I understand that it can be difficult. But, reframing how we perceive is important.

Top up and recharge
We all need a time to recharge from our worry, so fill up your tank.

Ask for help
It’s important to ask for help when you’re struggling I recommend depression helpline call or text 1737 it’s free in nz.

I hope this helps you to find support in difficult times.
Take care my friend.
