Do things right away
Procrastination can have negative effects on both our energy levels and the amount of time we have available to complete tasks.
When we put off tasks, we often think and tell ourselves that we are giving ourselves a break or more time to complete the task. However, in reality, we are just creating more stress and anxiety for ourselves.
This added stress drains our energy, making it harder for us to focus and be productive when we do eventually start working on the task. The longer we put off a task, the more time we ultimately spend thinking about it and worrying about it, which can take away from time we could be using to complete other tasks or to enjoy life.
Don’t procrastinate for five days on something that takes five minutes to do. When we have something in the back of our head, it takes up mental space and energy. When procrastination becomes a habit, our metal storage gets more and more filled until we feel so overwhelmed that we procrastinate more and more.
Let’s set a new rule: if something takes less than five minutes to do, do it right away. Do not rob yourself of energy and time — we only get so much of it in our day.
