5 Bs of burnout
Worried about burnout? I got you covered! Even though burnout can a work place problem, but I can tell you it a daily issue. Here is a great start.
The 5 Bs help you with productivity, motivation, concentration, and mood. they are best done all together but if that feels too much that is okay.
Let's look at them:
- Breathing
- Boundaries
- Breaks
- Body
- Being kind
Breathing
Your breathing can tell you a lot about your state of mind. when your stressed, your breathing gets shallow and short, leading you top anxiety. Learning to breathe deeply, especially in time of stress and anxiety. It's a good way to calm down your nervous system.
- Yoga and meditation
- The 5 sense exercise
- Deep breathing
Boundaries
If life was all work and play, you may start to feel stuck and possibly feel like shit. Letting work bleed into every aspect of your life is unhealthy lifestyle. Setting boundaries in ever area of your life is important, not just relationships. I've learned that for myself as I was around someone who was using and abusing my trust, also not respecting my mental well-being. So, I had to end the relationship. Your mental well-being is highly important if they don't respect that then they are not worth your time or energy.
- Let people know your boundaries
- Be open with people about what is going on for you.
- Learn to say no!
Breaks
Taking breaks gives your brain a chance to rest, recuperate and re-energize. Breaks of all kind is okay.
- Take micro breaks once or twice a day.
- Enjoy long breaks in the day 30 minutes or more, I find mediation a great way to have time out.
- Plan your weekend to have a calm relaxing time.
Body
Looking after your body is important. It prevents mental breakdowns.
- Try going to bed same time every night at least get 8-9 hours a day.
- Avoid screen if possible before bed.
- eat healthy diet
- Find the time to exercise daily, even if it just a walk.
Be kind to yourself
When kind to your self, you're more likely to look after yourself regularly. Being kind to yourself multiple times a day: what I am doing is using the 5Bs. Making it a routine daily offers the best mental health protection against burnout. Remember, if you end up burning out, you won't be able invest in yourself as investment in people around you. so, look after yourself today!
