Managing your mind
Managing Your Mind
Get your journal out!
I encourage you to use Managing Your Mind anytime you are feeling out of alignment with your highest self, your goals, and your vision.
This can be used over and over again to process what’s coming up for you, shift your perspective, and ultimately learn to become the master of your mind. It works best when you choose one challenge or situation at a time to run through.
Step 1. The Thought Download
Write out any limiting beliefs, doubts, or fears that you have in your mind. What disempowering thoughts and stories are you telling yourself?
Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Limiting beliefs about who you are and what you are capable of
- Fear of “I am not good enough”
- Fear of “I am not worthy” or deserving of what you desire in life
- Fear of “I am unlovable” and not being accepted for who you truly are or what you truly want
- Fear of “I am broken” or damaged somehow and therefore unable to heal and become who you truly want to be
- Fear of “It will never happen for me” and it works out for everyone else but you
My thoughts I’m not good enough I fear the worse when others don’t listen or behave in a way I expect I don’t feel like I am a good person I am sort of broken I’m afraid to have a seizure and continue to live like most with epilepsy I’m afraid that it working out for others but not me |
Step 2. Current Feelings
Next to each limiting belief and fear you have written down, think about how these make you feel. “How does it feel thinking these thoughts I have now with this limiting belief or fear?”
Here are some feelings you might resonate with; right now you might feel discouraged, ashamed, guilty, disappointed, sad, upset, frustrated, anxious, confused, hopeless, or stuck.
makes me feel ashamed, sad, upset, hopeless, stuck, discouraged |
Step 3. Current Actions (or Inactions)
Now, think about the actions or inactions that you are taking as a result of having these thoughts and feeling these feelings. Write them out. Ask yourself; “What will my actions (or inactions) be if I continue to let these limiting beliefs and fears run my mind?”
if I continue to let limiting beliefs hold me back I won’t be productive and inspired daily. |
Step 4. Current Results
Your results are simply evidence of your thoughts. The thoughts you think, and the feelings you feel, are continually creating your reality. Ask yourself; “If I continue to have these thoughts, attach to these feelings, and take this sort of action (or inaction), what will my results be?”
Not productive and would not get out of bed feeling miserable |
…..
Now that you’ve brought awareness to what is happening in your mind, it’s time to let go of and release these disempowering thoughts, limiting beliefs, and fears and reconnect with the highest version of yourself. Your true self.
…..
Step 1. Designing Your New Way of Thinking
Create the new intentional thoughts you are now committed to thinking to align yourself with the version of you that has already become who you want to be or has already achieved your goal. Ask yourself; “What thoughts would I have if I already achieved my goal and my desire was already mine?”
Step 2. Embodying the Feelings
Next, decide how you would feel if you already achieved your goal and your desire was already yours? I encourage you to avoid saying “I want to feel” or “I would feel,” be intentional with the feelings you are committed to embodying. State your feelings as present affirmations as in; “I feel…”
Step 3. Aligning with Your Energy and Action
Now that you already believe you’ve achieved this goal and your desire is already yours (and you’re fully embodying these feelings), how would you show up differently to your life knowing this is the absolute truth?
Consider these questions; “How do you show up today, as this version of yourself, in your life, career, and relationships?” “What type of energy do you embody?” and “What types of actions do you take?”
Step 4. Creating Your Results
Lastly, consider this question; “What results have you now created in your life, already believing these thoughts to be the absolute truth, embodying these feelings and energy, and taking action from that place?
